Employment Law Specialist
Tel: 0141 430 7055
I joined Watermans in 2019 to spearhead the employment team. I am an employment law consultant with over ten years’ experience, dealing exclusively with Claimants. I have only ever acted for employees who are experiencing workplace issues and never act for employers. I have considerable experience dealing with all aspects of Employment Tribunal claims and have a particular interest in discrimination claims.
I spent a number of years working on the mass litigation equal pay claims against local authorities in Scotland. I was the lead Agent in the Inner House of the Court of Session for the appeal cases of Breen & Amery -v- Perth & Kinross Council & Other CSIH 11, North & Others -v- Dumfries & Galloway Council CSIH 2 and Wilkinson & Others -v- City of Edinburgh Council CSIH 70. During this time, I recovered significant settlement sums for my clients.
My experience is varied and I have achieved successful outcomes in cases of unfair dismissals, contract and wages issues, all types of discrimination, transfer of employment issues, maternity issues, working time disputes, holiday pay issues, whistleblowing, harassment, settlement agreements and workplace closures. I have also achieved a number of successful outcomes for my clients through judicial mediation and workplace mediation.
I also have experience tutoring Law students at both City of Glasgow Collage and Glasgow University.
Best part of the job
The best part of my job is helping a client get access to justice. Compensation for a client who has been badly treated at work is really important, however, a Judgment from an Employment Tribunal confirming that a person has been treated unjustly is equally as important.
Hobbies and interest
In my spare time, I love to do arts & crafts and paint. I also enjoy socialising with friends and eating out, and enjoy long walks in the countryside.
