Applicants for the position of Claims Handler will be confident communicators, with sound knowledge of general insurance claims processes, legislation and protocol, in order to make the process as straightforward as possible for our clients.
Due to the nature of the role, the ideal candidate will have excellent organisational and time-management skills, with prior experience in managing a high volume of road traffic accident cases. Experience in determining liability, analysing engineer reports and credit hire is essential in order to be considered for this position.

As a Claims Handler at Watermans, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to
- Contacting third parties from a network of approved professionals and arranging for them to make repairs on the client’s vehicle
- Preparing initial estimates of costs and closely monitoring and documenting a record of costs
- Maintaining an accurate, comprehensive and orderly file of documentation relating to the claim
- Liaising with third party insurers and negotiating the terms of a claim
- Ensuring the customer is treated fairly and receives excellent service
- Monitoring the progress of a claim
- Providing regular updates on the progress of a claim to clients and responding to client queries promptly
- Sourcing advice from senior colleagues and external specialists on complex cases
- Ensuring fair and commensurate settlement of a valid claim
- Achieving a fee earning target as set by the firm
- Adhering to legal requirements, industry regulations and Watermans standards of service.
- Maintaining confidentiality in accordance with the requirements of the firm and GDPR.
- Fulfilling any other duties as requested by your line manager or other more senior colleague within the firm.
