Watermans Staff Get into the Festive Spirit by Joining Charity Appeal

The team at Watermans are playing their part this festive season by joining the largest Christmas gift appeal in the UK.

Launched on Monday this week Mission Christmas ensures that, through public and business donations, kids who wouldn’t normally receive gifts from Santa or loved ones will wake up to something special on Christmas morning.
Supporters are asked to donate new and unwrapped gifts to drop-off points which are dotted throughout Scotland or make a donation either on the Cash for Kids Mission Christmas website or via text message. At Watermans, our team are kick-starting the appeal this week by helping to pack the presents ready to be delivered in time for Christmas Day.

Scott Whyte, our Managing Director at Watermans, said:

“Everyone at Watermans is fully behind the incredible work that Cash for Kids do all year round, but especially at this time of year with Mission Christmas. We want to help at every level of this campaign through fund raising, collecting gifts and volunteering our time to assist the Cash for Kids team. Whilst it is something that we are proud to support it always leaves me with a huge feeling of sadness as the need for initiatives like this become greater and greater throughout the country.”

“This Christmas is going to be a difficult time financially for so many people. That makes us even more determined though to give our full support to this year’s campaign and to put a smile on as many of our local children’s faces as we possibly can.”

At Watermans, we have long been supporters of Radio Forth’s Cash for Kids initiative and, in addition to the gift appeal, are also donating £50 to the programme from every Will and Power of Attorney document written until December 23.

Mission Christmas is designed to help Santa reach children in poverty, and, for many, Christmas is something they simply cannot afford.
Each region, across Scotland and throughout the UK, has plenty of local drop-off points, and these can also be found on the Cash for Kids website.

You can donate £10 by texting SANTA to 70910 or £20 by texting SANTA to 70920.

The donated gifts are sorted and packed at Mission Christmas HQ by volunteers – Watermans staff included – before being distributed to charities, schools and local community organisations who will gift them to the local children for Christmas.

Last year, Cash for Kids fulfilled every application to help 18,786 local children throughout Edinburgh, The Lothians, Fife, and Falkirk. Within hours of this year’s launch, the charity received over 10,000 applications for this year’s appeal and Watermans are happy to be playing their part.
