Watermans MD named accredited specialist in personal injury

Scott Whyte, Managing Director of Watermans Accident Claims and Care, has been honoured with a top legal title after being named an accredited specialist by The Law Society of Scotland.

He joins a select group in being accredited in personal injury law as there are only 73 solicitors registered in that specialist field in Scotland while out of around 11,000 solicitors working in the country, about 500 are accredited.

To add further credence, Watermans is now home to two accredited specialists in personal injury as fellow solicitor Susanne McGraw has previously been recognised.

Mr Whyte said: “This endorsement by the Law Society of Scotland fills me with pride both personally and professionally, especially given the number of accredited specialists in my area of expertise.

“As lawyers must have been practising for seven years to receive accreditation, this is the earliest opportunity I’ve had to be recognised so I’m happy to be accredited at the first time of becoming eligible. For clients, dealing with someone who has this been given this status offers them peace of mind and that is the most important thing to me.”

Mr. Whyte quickly rose through the ranks at Watermans, becoming Managing Director in January 2014 after joining as a solicitor in October 2010. He is also a member of the Association of Personal Injury Solicitors (APIL) and the Motor Accident Solicitor Society (MASS).

The accreditation caps off an impressive few weeks for Mr. Whyte, 34, who was also recently named one of the ’40 Under 40’ by the Scottish Business News Network. That accolade recognised 40 people under the age of 40 who have had a positive impact on their business sector in the country.
