Craig Benson

Craig Benson was inspired to start swimming by his older brother, who also swam, and his grandad who took him to lessons when he was at nursery, which he remembers fondly. He learned to swim at Xcite Bathgate and his first club was Livingston and District Dolphins ASC.

Craig was the World Junior Championship record holder in the 100m breaststroke. The young swimmer was also named the Sunday Mail’s Scottish Young Sports Personality of the Year and the Best Up-and-Coming Scottish Sports Person in 2012.

Since then he’s competed at the Rio 2016 Olympics and the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, where he reached the final of the 100m Breaststroke event. He also competed at the London 2012 Olympics.
