Watermans Head of Family Law Accredited By The Law Society of Scotland

At Watermans, we are delighted to share that our Head of Family Law, Dianne Millen, has been accredited by The Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in family law. With over a decade of experience as a specialist family and incapacity lawyer, Dianne heads up the Family Law team at Watermans, advising clients in all aspects of separation, divorce, and child law.

What does it mean to be accredited?

The Law Society of Scotland’s accreditation scheme recognises those solicitors who have developed specialist expertise and knowledge in a particular area of the law. If a solicitor is accredited, clients can be assured they have been deemed experts in their field, and that they have experience in handling complex and challenging cases in that area of law.

Dianne is a valued member of our legal team, who, before qualifying as a solicitor, had a successful career in research and project management in the public sector. Bringing together a bit of life experience with her extensive legal expertise, Dianne works with her clients to achieve the best possible outcome for them.

“People often say to me that family law must be a depressing job – but I’ve never felt that. What we do makes a difference. I love working with my clients to understand their stories, help them work out where they want to get to, and collaborate with them to achieve their goals. Seeing people come through it and embark on a new stage of their lives is a great feeling.”

On receiving her accreditation from The Law Society of Scotland, Dianne says

“I’m delighted to have been recognised as a specialist in family law. Family disputes are among the most stressful events many people will face. They can be both legally and practically complicated, with a lot riding on the outcome, so clients need to know that their solicitor has the expertise and experience necessary – in and out of court – to achieve a resolution that will help them move forward.”
