Senior Solicitor Heather Tierney involved in community drama project

In my spare time I perform in (and help run) a small community theatre project. Watermans has very kindly agreed to sponsor our most recent production and will be advertised in the programme which will be given to everyone who attends. The group itself is an integrated and inclusive community theatre company based in a local public building (the Govanhill Baths Community Trust). It is a really interesting building as it is an old abandoned swimming pool so it is a real challenge putting on a show in these conditions.

The 2Ds drama group works with and supports people from any background to give them a safe space to take part in the arts – examples include those with learning difficulties, disabilities, mental health difficulties etc. The group aims to provide a safe and welcoming space for everyone to be creative and use the arts as a vehicle for self-expression and growth. We aim to create a group where it’s not about ‘what you’ve got’, but more about who you are. The group is run entirely by volunteers with my role in the group being administration (and I also perform). More info can be found on our website. The show itself is a 90s musical based on a true story which has been written and directed by one of the volunteers within the group. The show will be on the 15th and 16th September 2017 at the Govanhill Baths – find out more information about the show and watch the trailer below.
