Are you looking for a change in scenery?
Is the location of your current home still suitable? If the shops are too far away, you want to be nearer to a bus stop for easier access to public transport or you would like to be closer to your family? These are all questions to consider when making the decision to downsize. Longer journeys may become difficult, and so you want to be in a location central to your family and local amenities around, selling your current home to downsize would be a great option for you.
Downsizing could also allow you to be more sociable, as many of the Retirement Developments have access to a Communal Residents Lounge where owners can gather and visit with family and friends, in addition to hosting social events and evenings with the residents. If you are moving to be nearer to family and friends downsizing can also help you be more active. Don’t let your location restrict you through your retirement.

Would you benefit from downsizing?
It is completely dependent on your individual situation, but smaller homes can be easier to manage. For example, if you are finding that a spring clean takes too long and all your energy or getting to the top of the stairs has become a challenge, it may be time to look at selling your current home and downsizing to a smaller, more manageable property that can offer you easier maintenance options, more support and assistance with passenger lift access to all floors.

When deciding whether to downsize, consider your retirement wish list.
