Join Watermans in Celebrating Full-Time Caregivers This Carers Week

This year, Carers Week runs from the 6th to the 12th of June. Carers Week is a campaign that is run every year to recognise the contribution that unpaid carers make to families and communities across the UK every single day. The campaign highlights the challenges that carers face, and the sacrifices that they make to ensure the lives of those they care for are comfortable ones.

Being a full-time caregiver means that you dedicate a large portion of your time to others, and often your own life and plans are neglected. While you make plans for the future of the person you are caring for, often you don’t make suitable arrangements for yourself.

To celebrate Carers Week, and support our caregivers in Scotland, Watermans are offering a 20% discount for full-time carers on Will-writing and Power of Attorney services from the 6th to the 12th of June.

Our team are also offering free 15-minute appointments to discuss estate administration if a loved one has died, and you are unsure of what you need to do next.

Who is a full-time caregiver?

You are a caregiver if you provide care and support to a friend or family member who is elderly, has a disability or suffers from an illness or mental health condition. Caring for others is not an easy undertaking; it can be mentally and physically tiring, and the quality of life of the carer can be affected as a result.

The theme of Carers Week this year is “Making caring visible, valued and supported”. Working as an unpaid carer can pose many challenges, and it is important that carers are aware of and have access to as much information and support as possible.

According to the Carers Trust Scotland, there are at least 690,000 carers in Scotland, including 29,000 carers who are less than 18 years old. Following the recent Coronavirus pandemic, it is expected that this number may have grown even further.

This is a considerable number of people who are providing unpaid care work for others, and it is important that these caregivers have access to the correct information and support to help them to care for others safely.

At Watermans, we want to show our appreciation for the hard work and dedication shown by our full-time carers in Scotland by offering a 20% discount across all private client services , including Will-writing and Power of Attorney services.

“Planning for and talking about a time when you are no longer here is uncomfortable. I work hard to get the best plan in place for my clients, while understanding the sensitivities around talking about death. My clients often tell me that they have left our meeting feeling like a weight has been lifted from their shoulders.”
