Mission Christmas Appeal 2024

With 1 in 5 young people living in poverty in Edinburgh alone, many children across Scotland face waking up on Christmas Day without a gift to open.

Mission Christmas is all about making sure Santa pays a visit to everyone this festive season.

Mission Christmas is back for 2024!

Watermans are teaming up with Cash for Kids once again this year to bring festive cheer to homes across Edinburgh, the Lothians, Fife and Falkirk.

With almost 18,000 children living in poverty in Edinburgh alone, the risk of kids not having a gift to open on Christmas morning across the country is high.

The aim of Mission Christmas is to make sure that Santa has enough presents in his sleigh to deliver to every child this year - and the Watermans team are lending a helping hand.

The Long of it

What is Mission Christmas?

Mission Christmas is the largest Christmas gift appeal in the UK, that aims to ensure disadvantaged children and teens across the country have something to open on Christmas morning.

The cost of living crisis means that many families may not be able to afford luxuries like Christmas presents, and so the risk of kids not having something to open and play with on Christmas Day this year is high.

With 22,071 applications fulfilled last year, Cash for Kids have taken on the challenge of making sure Santa reaches every one of these families this festive season.

This year, the Mission Christmas appeal launches on Monday 18th of November.

How are Watermans helping?

Watermans are longtime supporters of Radio Forth’s Cash for Kids initiative, and the Mission Christmas appeal is no different.

The Watermans team will spend two days at Mission Christmas HQ, sorting through and packing donated gifts to send to local children for Christmas.

We are proud to be an official drop off-point for the campaign and grateful to our team who will get behind the campaign by bringing in gifts for the kids in our area.

How can I help?

Watermans will have gift drop-off boxes located in their Edinburgh and Glasgow offices, where members of the public and local businesses can donate gifts for the Mission Christmas appeal.

Cash for Kids have asked that all gifts are new and unwrapped, so that they can easily be sorted and sent to appropriate age groups. The appeal supports kids from newborn babies to 18 years of age, so suitable gifts for these age groups are welcomed.

You can also donate cash online to the Mission Christmas appeal to buy gifts if you can’t reach a drop-off point by following the link below!
