Hungry for More? This Lochranza Restaurant & Cottage Could Be Yours

An exciting opportunity to purchase your very own restaurant on the idyllic Isle of Arran has arisen this week, with the Watermans estate agency team bringing you this spacious Lochranza property. The plot, which houses a restaurant, detached two-bedroom cottage and a two-bedroom static caravan, isn’t to be missed.

Stag’s Pavilion Restaurant

Stag’s Pavilion, originally built as a golf clubhouse, is an 887 sq. foot restaurant, housing an industrial kitchen and spacious dining area. The leafy garden offers scope for outdoor dining, and with ample customer parking, this restaurant space is the perfect opportunity for anyone passionate about serving from Scotland’s larder. With the added option of opening a takeaway service too, this property has real potential for budding hospitality entrepreneurs. Nestled in the hills with the Lochranza Campsite opposite, and a ferry port nearby, this commercial property is ideally located to make the most of the bustling tourist activity that the island experiences.

Stag’s Pavilion Cottage & Caravan

The newly-built Stag’s Cottage is the perfect place to put your feet up after a shift in the restaurant. Built in 2021, the two-bedroom dwelling could serve as owner’s accommodation, and boasts French doors that open up into the enclosed garden, and a log-burning stove for those colder winter nights. The property also boasts a two-bedroom static caravan, with a fully kitted kitchen and a fireplace with a gas fire.

On the market for offers over £475,000, this is an opportunity you don’t want to miss.

Have we sparked some interest? Want to know more about what life could be like on the island? Our estate agency team has put together a guide of the best things to do in the area, so you can start to imagine what life would be like living in Lochranza.

Things to do in Lochranza

Regularly described as “Scotland in Miniature”, the Isle of Arran boasts all of the picturesque scenery, vast wildlife and popular food culture of the mainland. Lochranza, located on the north-west of the island, is sheltered by rolling hills and is home to an abundance of wildlife and views like no other. The village looks out over the bay to the Kintyre peninsula, where it takes only 30 minutes to travel by ferry. This is ideal for keen walkers, with the marked Kintyre Way walk leading you by scenic beaches, forests and castles.

For nature lovers, Scotland’s Big Five can be found on Arran and in the surrounding waters. Otters, harbour seals, golden eagles, red squirrels and, of course, the mighty red deer can be seen all over the island, but if you’re lucky, you’ll catch a glimpse of them all in Lochranza.

The focal point of the village is Lochranza Castle, which sits on a narrow spit of land in the bay. While it has the characteristics of a tower house typical of the 1500s, it is thought to have been built as early as the late 1200s.

For whisky lovers, you can visit the Lochranza Distillery, one of two on the island used to distil the famous Arran Whisky. The independent distillery is currently undergoing renovation work, with tours expected to restart in July 2023 but for now, you can enjoy guided whisky tastings in their visitor centre.

If you enjoy a round of golf, you won’t find a more picturesque pitch and putt course than Lochranza Golf. The 11 hole, par 3 course is ideal for a fun family activity or a few swings with your pals. Nestled between the mouths of two glens, you might even be joined for a round with the free roaming red deer – and the odd wee sheep!
