Olympian Hannah Miley delivered a day Aberdeen’s next generation of swimmers will never forget with a masterclass in swim skills.
Our Watergirl coached 23 swimmers aged between nine and 13 from several top swimming clubs in the Aberdeen area. The session, which took place at the state of the art Aberdeen Sports Village saw Hannah speak at length about her journey to the top of the sport before jumping in the pool for some fun coaching with the swimmers. Hannah is keen to pass on her considerable experience as a Commonwealth and European Champion to Scotland’s next wave of talent.
Hannah said: “A large part of my success has been down to the work ethic and attitude I’ve had not just in the pool, but out of it too. I wanted to show the kids here today that with the right application you can elevate yourself to higher levels.”
“When I do hang up the goggles I’d love to do more of these.”
Swimmers from Aberdeen ASC, Bon Accord Thistle ASC, Bridge of Don ASC and Dyce ASC were there on the day.
Scott Whyte, Managing Director of Watermans, which developed the swim clinic in conjunction with Hannah, said: “The value of the time these youngsters get to spend with someone of Hannah’s standing cannot be overstated. We’re proud to support an outstanding young role model to athletes right across Scotland.”
Stay tuned to find out where else Hannah’s swim clinics may take her.
