John MacCrone, Scottish rally driver and Watermans Accident Claims and Care road safety ambassador, has announced he will be competing in this year’s Scottish Rally Championship.
MacCrone will drive in a Watermans-backed Ford Fiesta R5 throughout the seven stage competition and his comeback will officially be the Snowman Rally in Inverness later this month. To further boost his chances of a successful campaign, MacCrone has announced that Rhianon Gelsomino will be his co-driver.
Scott Whyte, Managing Director of Watermans Accident Claims and Care said: “As a former junior winner of the Scottish Rally Championship, John’s talent is obvious and we at Watermans always look to support young Scottish talent. We hope our support will help him race away with wins throughout the year and that it can give him the platform to build his promising career.
Last year, in his first race after joining forces with Watermans, MacCrone was in World Rally Championship action in the ADAC Rallye Deutschland. He scooped the award for ‘best non-registered driver’, and Maccrone hopes the successful link up then is a sign of things to come.
MacCrone said: “I’m excited about the year ahead, and am also delighted to be continuing to work with Watermans going forward. As well as being supported through events, I’ve worked with Scott to promote road safety, and this is something we’ll keep on doing throughout the year.”
