Watermans Charity Partnership with Cash for Kids Reaches New Heights

It was an early start on Sunday morning last as twenty-two team members from the Watermans team tackled the Edinburgh Kiltwalk to raise funds for Scottish children’s charity Cash for Kids.

This year’s Edinburgh Kiltwalk saw the team take part in the 21-mile “Mighty Stride” event, as well as “The Big Stroll”, an 11.2-mile stretch starting in Musselburgh, to raise much-needed grant funds for children in communities across the East and West of Scotland. The group covered 400 miles between them to fundraise over £5,000 for the our chosen charity, Cash for Kids, bringing our total partnership fundraising over the last three years to £57,250!

Clare Stewart, Senior Corporate Fundraising Executive at Cash for Kids, said:

“We cannot thank Watermans enough for their ongoing support of Cash for Kids. As a Charity Partner, this team is incredible. They donate, fundraise and volunteer their time to ensure they make the biggest impact possible in our local communities.
“Watermans certainly aren’t shy of a challenge, having just walked a collective 400 miles on Edinburgh’s Kiltwalk to raise £5,167, taking our partnership total for the last 3 years to a phenomenal £57,250.

“At Cash for Kids, what’s raised local, stays local so all this amazing funding has helped thousands of children right here in our communities, from providing basic essentials like food and clothes to buying life-changing equipment for those with additional support needs.

“Next up, it’s Mission Christmas and we’re delighted that Watermans will continue to play a significant role in our flagship campaign. I can’t wait to see what we achieve together over the next year.”

Speaking further on the firm’s Charity Partnership, Head of Marketing at Watermans Siún Jordan said:

“We’re incredibly proud to support Cash for Kids as Watermans chosen charity. It’s a cause that has been close to our hearts for many years and one that allows us to support children and families across the East and West of Scotland. This year, our teams have embraced several opportunities to raise vital funds, from hosting our own quiz and bingo fundraiser to taking part in the Edinburgh Kiltwalk, where we raised over £5,000.”

Siún continued

“We’ll be getting involved in the annual Mission Christmas campaign later this year, both through fundraising, collecting gifts and volunteering at HQ to prepare Christmas gift packages. Last year we helped pack gifts for over 1,400 children and young people, and this year we want to support even more kids through our efforts, as we believe that no child should go without a present on Christmas Day.”

Caroline Bennie, Head of People and Operations at Watermans added:

“Events like the Kiltwalk are a great way to get the team together and raise funds for a charity that supports the communities we work in. It’s not just about smashing our goal though, it’s about us working together, keeping each other going during the hard moments and having a lot of laughs along the way. Well done to everyone who took part!”

With Christmas fast approaching, the team are now looking forward to working with Cash for Kids once again on their Mission Christmas campaign – watch this space!

“I’m regularly told that I don’t seem like the average solicitor – and that makes me happy. Who aspires to be average? What makes me different is that I put myself in my client’s shoes and aim to find solutions to their needs and situations. I work side by side with them to ensure that we achieve the best outcome possible.“
