Through hard work, dedication and a bit of luck, Bantu Burroughs was able to live out his basketball dream. Bantu’s first basketball achievement arrived in 2015 when he became the first ever alumni of Eastern Mennonite University in Virginia to turn professional. Burroughs was visiting his grandmother in Scotland for a brief holiday and attended a basketball trial hosted by the Glasgow Rocks. Impressed by his performance, Bantu was rewarded with a professional contract by the club.
His stellar performances for the Glasgow Rocks led him to being called up to the Scotland national side to compete in the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games. Bantu’s contribution to the team helped Scotland secure a place in the bronze medal match, in which they eventually finished in 4th place.
