Watermans say Scotland’s Court Reform Bill is a missed opportunity

Watermans’ Managing Director, Scott Whyte, is critical of the Courts Reform Bill introduced to the Scottish Parliament in Feburary 2014, saying it is a missed opportunity to make significant changes in the system that could deliver justice for all on an equitable basis.

In an article in the legal publication, The Firm, and in the Agenda column of the Herald, Scott argues that the proposed changes to raise the limit of cases that can be brought to the Court of Session from £5,000 to £150,000 will discourage many people from seeking justice in civil cases.
