Hannah Miley scoops Britain’s first medal at European Championships

Hannah Miley started the European Championships with a bang and won Britain’s first medal of the event after finishing second in the 400M Individual Medley.

Our Watergirl was in fine form with less than 100 days to go until the Olympic Games in Rio, which Hannah qualified for last month. The swimming superstar clocked up a time of 4min 35:27 secs.

Hannah was over the moon to secure second place, especially since she’s still in full training ahead of this summer’s Games. Speaking after the race, she said: “Coming off the back of British Trials and qualifying for my third Olympics, I did not expect to be swimming so fast given the heavy training, so it is a huge confidence boost in the lead up to Rio. It feels great to have won the silver medal here at the Olympic pool in London – the atmosphere has been incredible so far! Thank you to everyone at Watermans for all the support.”

Her week got better and better, as she finished third in the 200IM final to pick up a bronze medal and further add to Britain’s haul at the championships.
