A survivor of a historic sexual assault case which happened in the 1980s has secured compensation for his traumatic ordeal.
Our client was awarded £11,000 after pursuing a personal injury compensation case through Watermans Solicitors in a bid to achieve justice.
Associate Heather Tierney, who handles sexual abuse claims at our Glasgow based law firm, pursued the civil claim through the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA).
The client was successful in his claim through our leading personal injury firm and was awarded the sum last month.
Heather said: “It is a success story because ordinarily you only have two years from the date of incident to claim with CICA so we had to argue for a late application.
“Historic cases can sometimes be difficult in terms of evidence and the case only took eight months to reach a conclusion which is very unusual.
“I was delighted to have been able to assist this survivor in pursuing a successful CICA claim.
“There is no amount of financial compensation which can compensate a survivor for the trauma they have been through.
“All we can hope is that it goes some way towards allowing them to move forward with their life.”
Many people who have gone through sexual abuse or violence need extra support in terms of psychological help and assistance, and compensation can help them to move forward with their lives.
